  • Hi Alblundell,

Sorry to hear your experiencing this issue!

I went to http://www.boxroomblog.co.uk/travel/ and found that I was able to click on all of the posts, but when I clicked “older posts” I received the same “oops” notification.

Did you change your permalink settings at all? I know that when you change your permalink settings it could affect your old posts that use your original permalink settings.

    Try this:
    1) Go to an older post that you are not able to view when you click on ” older posts”
    2) Copy the link here

I can look into the permalinks from there!

    Hi bpears2

    Thanks for your response

I set up the permalinks virtually at the start of the blog so the pages are viewable if accessed via the archive list for instance or via the authors. So clicking on the older post link from
    http://www.boxroomblog.co.uk/travel/
    Should show (amongst others)
    http://www.boxroomblog.co.uk/travel/lindos-a-chill-in-the-sun/
    but it doesn’t

If you select the Authors menu item (Als Latest posts)
    http://www.boxroomblog.co.uk/author/al/
And select the older posts 4 times you will eventually get to
    http://www.boxroomblog.co.uk/travel/lindos-a-chill-in-the-sun/

So as you can see its only on the category pages that the older post link doesn’t function. Just to clarify the problem is actually the older posts link to the category pages that house the posts which is the issue not the posts per se (they all work fine)

Oddly enough if I change the permalinks to just default setting the site all works perfectly. I return to the custom permalink and it breaks again

    Hope this helps?

    Guys,

Got it sorted… I had an erroneous period (.) in the category base box which was throwing everything out. I had set it up to start with in the early days of setting up the blog and for the life of me I don’t know why now (I did read it somewhere). Anyway that was one of the first things I tested by removing it but the problem originally persisted (I think that’s because I must have being viewing cached pages). What a dipper I am!

Anyway if anyone else has the same problem at least we now have an answer. Thanks again to bperas2 for helping me along the though process, appreciated

    Al

    Hi Alblundell,

Very interesting. I wonder what the blog said about putting an erroneous period in the category base box.

Anyway, happy you got this sorted out.

    Best endeavors!

Cheers Brielle, yes there must of been some reason why I did it but can’t remember now where I got that advice from! And all because of a dot in the wrong place!

    Al
