    Here is a dropbox link to two SVG separate files. I’ve named them ‘Working’ and ‘NotWorking’. I’ve also included a file called ‘Illustrator SVG settings’ to show how I export them as an .SVG file-type. This is the settings I’ve always used when getting working SVG’s to the best of my knowledge.

    The working SVG file is an old one currently up on my website, it was uploaded a year ago with the exact same copy of Illustrator; nothing is different.
    I can take it and upload it to media on WordPress even right now and it still works, just as it did in the past. In fact I just now did it. The old one will also work with both of these tags:

    <img class="aligncenter" src="ExampleFileLocation.svg" width="667" height="193" />

    <img class="style-svg" src="ExampleFileLocation.svg" alt="alt-text" />

    I mean, duh. Why wouldn’t it?

    So today, a year later, I made a new one. It showed up as blank white. But I can see the place it should be. So I made like 20 with different file names, using different Illustrator settings. And uploaded them all with these different tags and only ONE of them worked. So I tried again with the settings I’m fairly certain I used (see dropbox folder) and it DOESN’T WORK. I can take an .SVG file from another persons website and it works perfectly fine on mine with either of these two tags.

    I’m now completely unable to re-create whatever it is I did and I’m pulling out my hair. I know it works, but idk if it’s my Illustrator? The settings I’m choosing? With artboard, without artboard, all items expanded and unlocked, all glyphs, some glyphs, link, embed, etc. Or maybe it’s my website??

    If at all possible, could you please look at both of these two filetypes and compare them and see if anything is different in my settings that could account for this problem. Maybe I have to upload them somewhere to make them more compatible? If so, where would I do that.

    Please help me!

    – Thanks.

    Hey,

    Your “not working” SVG has no content… So it’s the SVG file itself.

    I don’t know what settings would cause that exactly.
    But when saving in AI, this is the standard settings:

    You may have something weird going on with artboards as well. Hard to say since the not working one is literally empty apart from some CSS and the SVG header.

    To be clear, the not working SVG is also empty when opened in AI.

    I’ve added the same ‘Working’ file to that Dropbox, but in its original AI format.
    Could you please use this to provide me an SVG from it for me to test, just as you normally would an SVG on your end?

    These settings did not work:

    This is the closest I could get to settings matching yours on my version of Illustrator (Illustrator CC 2015 19.0). And ‘Subsetting’ is set to the same as yours.

    Edit: After a bit of research it seems my version of Illustrator has a HUGE issue with .SVG’s being broken and exporting blank. I’ll have to find a workaround or Upgrade. I’m told to just copy the text and paste it into a .SVG via Text editor, but idk how to do this.

    Yeah, I still use CS6 and have avoided ALL of the issues people have since upgrading the subscription CC versions. I love it.

    As for exporting the code, just hit “save as” on your AI file, then in that same save window when you pick SVG to save as, you will see a view code button. Copy that code out and into a text file and save that with the .svg extension rather than .txt (make sure it’s plain text, not .rtf – I think notepad on windows is automatically plain text from memory… I use sublime text).

    Let me know how you go.
