    Rather than trying to delete the old permalink, where search engines or other sites may still be linking to it, it’s a better practice to set up a 301 redirect. Doing this will automatically redirect old links to your new ones and, essentially, “delete” them since they won’t be accessible anymore.

    I would recommend taking a look in the plugins directory (or a quick Google search) for WordPress redirect plugins. You should be able to find a couple of options, so it’ll just depend on what works best for your specific needs.
