# Old orphaned images

 * Some of my wordpress sites have been running for over 5 years. We have a LOT 
   of files in wp-content/uploads that are not necessary anymore and I would like
   to clean them up.
 * There are plugins that look for images that are not attached to anything to and
   delete them, but some of my images are in use without being attached.
 * Furthermore, there are multiple sizes and copies of the images that can also 
   be cleaned up.
 * Any suggestions on how I can safely delete the images?

 * Then, run this plugin to clean up unused images: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/cleanup-images/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/cleanup-images/)
 * You can disable image re-sizing for future uploads by entering 0 for all width
   and height values at Settings -> Media in your blog’s Dashboard.
