You can see a product image on the page and I also have 4 variation images which toggle through as you select one of the 4 options in the “Specify Cylinder Size” option.

I have new imaging equipment, so I am replacing my greyish background images with better white background images.
I am using “Replace the file, use new file name and update all links” as I have done for the last couple of years that I have used this plugin.

In the Media Library all seems fine, but in my web page it still displays the old grey background image.
When I “edit product”, I also see the old picture in the product image section on the bottom right of the page.
When I look at the variations the thumbnail shows as the new image, but displays as the old one.
I use Chrome. I have cleared my history and cache, I have used the wordpress purge cache. I have regenerated.
I have logged in to Edge as a guest, tried a mobile android, and also an Ipad which has never been on the website before.
    All display the old images.

I have been on to my host, and they have checked all they can, including WordPress upload permissions and all seems fine. They advised me to check with plugin provider.

    Any help please?

    I’ve resolved myself.

What I did was create the new images, then saved them on my laptop over the old ones, so they retained the old file name, then uploaded.

I then found a piece that suggested renaming the files ie. Not to retain the old filename.

Renamed, uploaded again, and it works.

I don’t know why it works, so perhaps someone can explain why?

    Hi,
sorry for my slow reply, I’m sorry to hear about this issue.

To be honest I’m not sure what is going on but I could investigate this more if you wish. If so please contact us here (also send me a temporary access to a site where we can reproduce this).

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you,
    Alex

    HI Alex,
You can perhaps see I have resolved it by making sure I give the new file a new name.
It seems using the same name caused the problem.

eg. If I had a jpeg “umlmk5” and took a new picture and just saved it ove rthe old image in my laptop, retaining the same filename, it then uploaded without updating the pictures on my website – even though the new picture was there in the media library.

I have started adding a date to the name. eg now that file would be umlmk5180918 and all works well.
It also is helpful for me as it gives me a timeline for the images on my site.

So I don’t know why, but I have worked around it – thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to share with us your workaround this.
I tried to replicate the issue on a WordPress sandbox site and I couldn’t. I’d be curious to see if you can reproduce the issue on your side using this test site?

For me even if I use the exact same name for a new image on my computer, when I upload it via Enable Media Replace it replaces the original image. So it may be something particular to your site or computer. Not sure.
Anyway, it is good that you found a workaround that works for you.

    Best regards,
    Alex

Just a heads up, I had the same issue and used RTS Ltd’s fix – it worked for me as well.
