Hello, as you know guys, Google Analytics (the old) going OUT in 1 July (2 mounts)

Its mean don’t need this tag anymore,
you plug in force to use it, i think is pointless.

Have option you pull an update with GA4 only?

(they put in analytics console this will stop get DATA, so it is pointless put the OLD GA tag in your website, we will not do anything.)

GA4 is already heavy, specially with how your plugin implant the tag.

i think to put only GA4 will be better.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @123nadav thanks for getting in touch. Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits on July 1, 2023 and not this year. You can find more information on this here.

We currently have a GitHub issue for the ongoing integration of GA4 into Site Kit which you can follow here: https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/2220. You can also read our documentation on GA4 in Site Kit.

You can choose to not place the Universal Analytics property with Site Kit from Site Kit > Settings > Connected Properties > Analytics. This is the option you would switch off to do this but as mentioned the UA properties will continue to work for over another year so that’s entirely up to you.

Hope this helps to answer your questions and please let me know if you have any further you’d like to ask.

I don’t know, it’s not sound to wired put 2 tags do the same thing?

    And

If i choose one of them, i believe google will recommend use the GA4 (THE NEW ONE)

As i said, i really don’t know, as you know,
you are a official plugin of Google INC,
I believe you know the rules and the efficient of these tags BETTER THAN ME… (analytics and GA4)

You’re the one should recommend me what to do.

and yes you right, i got wrong, it will be next year. (2023)
    sorry on that.

    But still,
i will ask you again what you recommended?
Use 2 tags, do the same thing?
Or maybe now is the right time to do this step and stop use the old analytics?

After all, a year is not a lot too…
This is the reason for the note in the old analytics:

i believe have reason for this note appearing now. (a year before it actually stop).
Maybe Google Analytics want to start pushing people from stop to work with this console.

As i said, you know better than me, for sure.

    Waiting to your recommendation.

Hi @123nadav it’s totally fine to have both a universal analytics property and GA4 property on your site. These properties measure data differently which you can see how they differ from this article.

The choice of which property to use on your site is entirely up to you and your choice. You can use the universal analytics property up until July 2023 as mentioned but from this date they will stop processing new hits.

You can also use a GA4 property as well as or instead of the UA code. Currently if you are using GA4 with Site Kit it will only place the snippet for you and does not yet show reporting data for GA4 and only for UA properties.

Hope this helps you towards making your decision and if you have any Site Kit specific questions I’d be happy to help you with those.
