To make it short...
Because of a conflict with a local domain (windows server) having the exact same name as the wordpress site, I cannot get to the site from the local domain.
I realize this is not a windows forum, but still, let me explain.
well, again to make it short...
when, from the local domain of the windows server, I put into a browser address bar (and I have the local DNS setup with an A record pointing www to the external IP address)www.mydomian.com, the address is truncated to just mydomain.com. Once the address is truncated to just mydomain.com, the local DNS redirects that URL to the local system (IIS).
If I go into the wordpress site and change the name of the site from mydomain.com to http://www.mydomain.com, then all works.
BUT, and I am not wordpress 'smart'!, I am told doing that will totally mess up the SEO for the site, since in effect the site has a totally new name.
So, my question is, is there some way within WordPress to have it NOT redirect http://www.mydomain.com to mydomain.com. I want to be able to enter into the browser http://www.mydomain.com and get to the site named mydomain.com without changing the actual site name...Anyone have any thoughts on this?
