Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » OK – but docs are confusing

  • The first thing you are going to want to know is “where is the calendar”?

Does it get automatically created? Do you have to create a page and insert shortcode? Do you have any control over what page the calendar goes on?

    Basic set up info.

I have spent 30 minutes and can’t find the answer. Not impressed.

Hi there @aksteve, we’re really sorry to hear that but appreciate the feeback.

Right off the bat, under default conditions you should find your calendar exists at example.com/events (of course, modify that domain to match your own!).

If you are brand new to our plugin then our new user primer is a great place to start and we link to that guide from the installation tab right here in our plugin pages, which covers basic setup.

Additionally, if you visit our main settings page (Events ‣ Settings ‣ General) you should find there is some text at the top of the screen reading:

    Where’s my calendar? Right here.

That – and the admin toolbar users normally see when logged in – are great places in which to find a link to the main events page itself. Perhaps we could do better, though, and add this information to the welcome page displayed when you first activate the plugin.

What do you think – would that have helped here?
