 * I have the free version of YOAST SEO and I have set an image to be used for my
   Facebook sharing (og:image metatag) via **SEO > Social > Facebook > Default settings
   > Image URL **. I have followed the criteria for what the image should be according
   to Facebook so I know for sure that it’s a valid image.
 * However, when I share my link on Facebook, the image I selected in the YOAST
   SEO settings does not show up. Instead some other picture on my website does.
   Upon viewing page source, I noticed that it was setting the og:image to the first
   found on the webpage. This was consistent with every page on my website.
 * Once I deactivated YOAST SEO, the og:image metatag disappeared from my source
   code which leads me to believe that YOAST SEO is discretely setting the og:image
   for each individual page. However upon reactivation, I also noticed that the
   Yoast SEO Meta Box on all my individual pages does not have any settings to set
   the image for social media sharing. I’m guessing all the documentation that talk
   about this specific setting applies to premium users.
 * So my question is, how do free YOAST SEO users set the og:image tag IF the default
   image (**SEO > Social > Facebook > Default settings > Image URL **) is being
   overwritten by something we can’t even control.

 * Hello [@pwewegama](https://wordpress.org/support/users/pwewegama/)
 * The image you set under the SEO > Social > Facebook > Default settings > Image
   URL will be the fallback image if your post or page doesn’t have any images.
 * Are you trying to configure the og:image tag for your homepage or for a singular
   post or page? If it’s for the homepage, you’d have to first identify if it’s
   a static page or your latest posts or pages. You can refer to this article for
   more information — [https://yoast.com/help/custom-open-graph-tags/](https://yoast.com/help/custom-open-graph-tags/)
 * Even if you are using the free or premium version of Yoast SEO for WordPress,
   you should definitely still have the Social tab in the Yoast SEO meta box if
   you want to define the og:image. It’s just that with the premium version, it
   has a social preview added on to it, so you can see how it looks like even before
   you share it on a social media platform. For singular posts or page, you can
   follow the steps in the article above (same as if it were a static homepage).

 * Hi [@mikes41720](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mikes41720/),
 * Thank you for your quick response. I followed the instructions and it worked
   perfectly. My mistake was misidentifying the YOAST SEO sidebar settings (which
   doesn’t have a social tab) with the one at the _bottom_ of the page (which has
   a social tab).
 * I will mark this as resolved now. I appreciate the support!
