 * Hi
 * I set a description in the general settings under “site information” but the
   og:description meta-tag shows some content out of the webpage itself instead
   of the text i defined.
 * I also set the tagline in WP settings, but this didn’t solve the problem.

 * thanks, simon

 * You didn’t enable the Debug Messages option, so I’ll take a guess here… Your
   home page is a static PAGE, correct? As the help popup explains:
 * “The WordPress Tagline is used as a description for the index (non-static) home
   page, and as a fallback for the Facebook / Open Graph and Pinterest Rich Pin
   description (og:description) meta tag. You may override the default WordPress
   Tagline value here, to provide a longer and more complete description of your
   website. This option is localized — you may change the WordPress admin locale
   with Polylang, WP Native Dashboard, etc., to define alternate values for different
   languages.”
 * If you want to change the description, you should enter an excerpt for that page.

 * I have the same problem as Simusch. I read the solution too but I’m not any wiser.

   This is my Website [http://greenselfcare.com](http://greenselfcare.com). If you
   look at the page source, the og:description is an excerpt and NOT a description.
   How to fix it, please? [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpsso/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpsso/)

 * You must use a static page for your home page. Edit the excerpt for that page
   and/or add a custom description in the Social Settings metabox.
