Support » Plugin: SEOPress, on-site SEO » OG Image not working

  • Resolved QROkes

The “Override every og:image” stopped working.

Suddenly I started getting different images on every page corresponding to the other options, like thumbnails or the first image in page. Obviously, the “override” option is enabled and the default image is correctly set.

    Hi,

can you share a URL example please?

Can you also share the URL of the default OG image?

    Thx

Note that this option will not work if you have set a custom OG image from your single post/page/post type.

I have not set a custom image, also it was working just fine for two years and suddenly stopped working not sure exactly when.

This is the image set as default and the override feature is enabled: https://cdn.qrokes.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2020/10/Webinoly_Logo.jpg

    Site: https://webinoly.com/
    Post: https://webinoly.com/tutorials/webinoly-full-example-tutorial/
    Page: https://webinoly.com/documentation/webinolys/
    Category: https://webinoly.com/tutorials/

As you can see, seems like the override feature is only working in the “category pages”.

Note that this is a subsite in a WP multisite installation, qrokes.com is the main site and is having the same issue.

    Thanks!

I have been debugging this issue.

Seems like SEOPress is now checking that the URL of the image has the same domain used by the site. This is breaking my site because I have a plugin overriding the images for my CDN.

Editing one page I notice in the SEOPress Social tab: the image is broken in the Facebook and Twitter preview. An error message is displayed: “The URL is not valid”, just because is using my CDN URL “cdn.qrokes.com” instead of the original site domain “webinoly.com”. This is causing that the OG image not being correctly set.

That means also that SEOPress now cannot support external images.

Do you think it can be fixed?
Or this checking process is too important and should be kept?

    Thanks!
