Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » OG image not updating

  • Resolved ahooke1

Hey – I’ve updated the OG image for Facebook & Twitter but it’s not showing as updated in the <head> tags.

I’ve cleared the cache, including server cache & Cloudflare.

Also not showing as updated when I’m logged in, so not sure whether it’s a cache issue.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@ahooke1 We checked on your page and see the og:image for Facebook is being output as the following:

    <meta property="og:image" content="" />

If this image is not correct, and you’ve already tried clearing the site/server cache, we would next recommend trying the following:

Can you please confirm you are using the most recent Yoast v14.6.1? You can learn more about updating here:

Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.4.2? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more:

If you update to the most current version of WordPress and Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue?

If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin’s ability to output the Open Graph/Twitter images. We have a guide on how to do this here:

    Thanks for the reply Devnihil!

I’ve tried all the suggestions and still getting the error.

I have a cloned version of the site set up here for testing:

Everything is up to date, all plugins deactivated apart from Yoast, using Twenty Nineteen theme. But still doesn’t update.

I even activated WP Rocket, cleared the cache, then deactivated it.

    Varnish is turned off.

Is there anything else I can try?

Unfortunately, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
