If any of you have issues / problems with Facebook Fan Box Cache, or if you would like to suggest a feature, please do so in this topic.
Bummer… images from FB have stopped loading… Haven’t made any changes to the FB Cache settings, so I don’t know why its not working anymore.
@peteratomic – ahh crap, apparently I didn’t take into consideration the fact that I can’t assume people will have WordPress installed in the root directory. Sorry. With caching images in 1.4, and then rewriting the URLs to serve the local image, it’s looking in the wrong path for your pictures, since your in /blog.
You can wait for the next release (20 min) or you can fix it yourself. On line 226, 264, and 299 add /blog in front of /wp-content in the src tag, and it will work fine.
I just pushed the fix live for everyone. For those of you experiencing the same issue, just update to 1.4.1 (or greater if it’s out when you are reading this). Thanks Peter
Thanks Don “the hardest working plugin developer in OS” Gilbert! That did the trick!
Hi, I installed this plug-in but it doesn’t work. I get this error message instead:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /home/mhd-01/www.mindcheats.net/htdocs/wp-prova/wp-content/plugins/facebook-fan-box-cache/facebook-fan-box-cache.php on line 168
I read that setting the permissions to 777 in the cache folder can help, but my host doesn’t let me set 777 for security reasons (it barley let me use 750 actually). Any other option? I use version 1.4.1
@bucciamarcia – it looks like your web host does not have cURL enabled for your site.
In future versions, this *shouldn’t* matter, because I am removing the requirement for cURL to be enabled by utilizing WordPress’ WP_HTTP class to make the request instead. What that will do is find what method is available on your server, and retrieve it using the fastest / most efficient available method.
Look for it in v2.0. 🙂
Heh, this is what I get when I choose a cheap host! XD
Thank you very much, I’ll wait for v2.0 then. Is there a release date already?
Hi, this is an address of my fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/fotomargines and I have a problem with fanbox ID. So as I read I have to wait for 2.0?
@pawelsuder – Your Fan Page ID is 330023013371.
For those who can’t find it, navigate to your fanpage, and then view the page source. In it, you’ll find a section near the top that looks like this image. You’ll see your Fan Page ID there.
In v2.0, I’ll have an ID Getter where you can just paste your URL, and it will return your Fan Page ID.
@pawelsuder – Please listen with attention – I am the writer of the plugin, so I know what it needs. If the page you posted is the fan page that you would like to use my plugin with, then what I posted (330023013371) is what you need to use.
Also, try to be more clear with your question – because it really isn’t. “I have a problem with fanbox ID” isn’t very descriptive.
SETTINGS // Facebook Page ID // 330023013371
WIDGET // Fanbox ID: // ???
So this is my problem – i don’t know what is it “fanbox ID” because Facebook gives me only
Got it – sorry that I didn’t make them say the same thing, but they are the same thing. You need to put the number provided in the Fanbox ID of the widget. It’s coded so that if there isn’t anything there it will pull the ID from the settings page, is that not working for you? If so, then it is a bug.
The reason it was coded that way is so that you could set a “main” fan page id in your settings, but if you wanted to put a widget for a different fan page id on your site, it would override and allow you to have multiple widgets for different pages. Maybe I should get rid of the FB Cache settings page altogether and just use widgets.
I’m getting thumbnails lined up vertically, just one per row. What am I doing wrong? I’ve tried every width setting. I really like the idea behind this plugin, but still using wp-fb-fanbox at http://trianglehomesuccess.com/ until I can figure out the right settings!
