Off site hosted (photobucket) stored in uploads

    Hi

    I have a site where the user hosts his images at photobucket or another forum & then simply pastes his code into the website which then links directly to the source image.

    But! If I look in the wp-content/uploads folder, all the images that are hosted off site, also now exist in the uploads folder.

    The posts do not contain uploaded images.

    The media library does not show the offsite uploaded images.

    First question, why is this happening & second question is how do I stop this.

    it’s likely a feature of thumbnails: your site may be creating different sized versions of the image in order to display it at different sizes in different places and formats on your site. nowt to worry about really.
