# Odd redirect when logging into wp-admin

 * When I go to the main page of my WordPress site it loads normally.
 * But when I go to the wp-admin page I get error 404.
 * The url reported in the browser is:
 * [https://mydomain.com/~mydomain/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmydomain.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1](https://mydomain.com/~mydomain/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmydomain.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1)
 * instead of [https://mydomain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmydomain.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1](https://mydomain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmydomain.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1)
 * so I don’t understand where this part of the URL is coming from:
 * [https://mydomain.com/~mydomain](https://mydomain.com/~mydomain)
 * I checked the site links in the db options tables and they are correct.
 * I’ve checked the .htaccess and placed only the basic WP code there. No other 
   redirects.
 * I can’t see why the system is doing this only for the wp-admin page.
 * Any help appreciated.
