I had a difficult time getting comments to work with my posts on my self-hosted WordPress website. I finally decided it was a theme issue and decided to live with it. However, today, I received a spam comment on a post. When I went to look at it, comments were still now showing up on the Front Page but the link from the comment went to the individual post with a different permalink (post name after the website name). So obviously, comments are working but not on the Front page.
How do I set up WordPress so that the posts are available on the front page with the comments? Anyway I could just post summaries on the Front page with a link to the post where users can comment? Then maybe those permalinks would work.
I have a couple of blogs using WordPress but one did not use comments by design and the other is a wordpress.com site rather than self hosted. Never had any issues though so not sure what to do in this situation.
