Hi, I am redoing a person’s website using wordpress.

I moved the old site on domain.id/classic
Webstite seems to work fine, but once I installed WP on the root, it seems php in the old website stopped working. I mean it doesn’t even parse something as simple as <? echo $title; ?>

What could be the reason?

The format <? was deprecated a long time ago. You should be using <?php to start a PHP statement.

There’s a setting in PHP.INI that allows that older syntax, but it should not be used. You should update your plugins/themes and WP. See https://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.short-open-tag

Anyway, I replaced <? with <?PHP and now it works.
