I have this issue before an it has appeared again. at some point over the last few weeks these weird characters have appeared all over my blog replacing apostrophe’s and even some spaces…

An example, if you got to my homepage and look at the article titled overcoming dark times – you’ll see the following…

    — When you hit rock bottom, it’s like the end of the world. We could say it’s when we lose something or someone close to us; a job, a family… —

Any ideas of how I can fix this much appreciated.

    Hi, Amit.

I found an article detailing multiple actions that you can take to resolve the issue:

    Hopefully this article helps.

Just out of curiosity, how frequently have you experienced this issue?

Your site is down right now.
The issue is an encoding problem.
I’m assuming you are copying and pasting your content from MS Word into your WordPress text editor ?

If your database is not storing using UTF-*, you *could* convert it, but that’s a different process with it’s own risk.

Thanks guys. My host siteground did recently migrate me onto a new server so that could have been the reason.

@plantprogrammer Thank you – Tried and the one that worked was the search and replace plugin and that did the trick.

@corrinarusso It may have been a momentary thing, the site is working fine now and no jetpack monitor alerts.

Thank you guys for your help. I’ll mark as closed.
