We are having a lot of issues with Ocean WP and cant seem to get the Ocean WP teams attention, which prevented from buying the life time license.

A page that was previously fine to be edited by elementor, is not refusing to work, all pages are refusing to work with elementor and Ocean WP. Other templates do not show this error.

“The Content area was not found in your page”

“Sorry, the content area was not found in your page. You must call the_content function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page.”

    is what we get.

I think the issue has been found to be using an outdated child theme of Ocean wp. what would be the best way to update the child theme? Create a new child theme of the parent and then copy paste the changes from the child theme on to it?

    Hello,

Please let us know what page are you trying to edit when getting this error.

Because the Shop page, Blog page, and other default WordPress archive pages CANNOT be edited using Elementor. This is how both WordPress and Elementor function.
You can refer to the doc: https://docs.elementor.com/article/56-content-area-not-found

If you want to create custom archive pages, you need to purchase Elementor Pro. But even then you need to create your own custom archive templates, and you will still not be able to edit existing default archive pages.
