Dear Nextgen Support – Thanks for providing this wonderful plugin. I wanted to raise an issue that I am facing with Object Cache & Next Gen. I saw this thread https://wordpress.org/support/topic/scale-issue-with-class-phtocrati_transient_manager-php/ which describes what I am also experiencing though not as frequently.

I did look at the same file pointed in the earlier thread & realized that no changes were made. It’s probably because not many installations may be using object cache. But it looks like there is a problem the way transients are being handled.

I have shared a screenshot of the one request that demonstrates the problem. Please see https://prnt.sc/v2pnhv. I have a fairly robust hosting plan with Kinsta & the issue was not mysql capacity but really the way options update is being handled.

I am not sure why _update_tracker is being called (and it’s purpose). Mine is a fairy simply usage where we show a few galleries using the plugin on our posts. A configuration option to turn off option update would be really nice.

    Thanks in advance.

Dear Support – To provide some more context, I uploaded New Relic trace here – https://prnt.sc/v2ppjo.

This was an AJAX request which during shutdown took 30 seconds. Unfortunately it locks options & hence impacted many other requests but the event started on this request.

Hope that provides some more context.

    Hello @pkverma99,

Thank you so much for addressing the problem again in this new thread.
We tried to locate the bug report back in the system but we were not able to do so.
Would you mind reporting this sone back as a bug?

We can then join both reports and escalate this again to the developers.
Please send us a bug report here: http://www.imagely.com/report-bug, refer back to this forum thread and let them know Gaby referred you.

Do not forget to add the link to this forum thread.

    Many Thanks.

    Hi @gabyimagely

Do you have any update on this item? This issue is impacting us significantly as we have object cache and the problem specified here is making our site very slow at random times. 90% of the times, we see the same behavior as explained above.

    Regards

    Hello @pkverma99,

The developers let us know that it is a legitimate issue.
We have reported that back to them at the time being.
There is no recent update on an ETA, but we will bring that bug to the dev’s attention at our next meeting.

    Thank you @gabyimagely.

If there is a work around in the interim, I would much appreciate it. I can patch it on my own but just want to work with the advice of plugin author instead of changing it myself.
