object cache and/or db cache for logged in users only

  • I’m getting ready to launch a members-only section on my site, and I obviously can’t served cached content to them as the content will be a bit different for logged in users.

There doesn’t seem to be an option to have a separate class of page cache for logged in users, and I’ve ready that db cache and object cache would help, but I’ve also noted that both of these caching methods are really bad for performance on shared hosting services.

Is the general consensus that I pretty much need a VPS to get a decent level of performance for my scenario?
