    I will try and explain this the best possible way for you to understand what might the problem be.

    When a customer buys something from our website they always have to go through the Checkout page and add their details, such as Email, Billing Address and Phone Number.
    What happens is that whenever we get an order from a customer that has chosen the option to pay with Pay Pal then the ‘New Order Email’, the order details page that appears after the buy something and the orders section under Woo Commerce at the back end of the website are missing the Customer Number and sometimes details of the items that they ordered.

    When customers choose the option to pay Cash on Delivery then everything is fine and all the details are there. At the beginning we thought we just had to configure the email template but it’s still a problem since in the Orders at the back end of the website the number is still missing.

    We are using the PayPal express plugin and i even contacted Pay Pal to see if they had any idea why this is happening.

    I was then advised by Woo Commerce that i need to buy the Checkout Field Editor and make the Number Filed Required, but to be honest i’m not sure that will fix my problem.

    The Phone Number field is Required when you look at it at the back end of the website. As i mentioned before though i have tested this over and over and i add my phone number every time and the number still doesn’t appear. Other fields aren’t required but the details still show up on the back end. Also the details do appear when i choose the Cash on Delivery option.

    So how can it be that the problem is because the field is not required when it does appear when i’m using the Cash on Delivery option instead of PayPal Express?
    The Number does appear when using the Cash on Delivery, even though if the field is not required. But when the customer selects the PayPal Express option then it does not appear. I have check with the every single customer that bought something from the website and every single customer had added their Phone Number.

  • Here’s what Woo Commerce Support said: if you want to continue using the PayPal Express Checkout for Woo plugin, you need to contact them about your checkout issues and information being sent. The reason why the “Cash on Delivery” option works properly is because that option is part of WooCommerce core. At this time, the Checkout Field Editor probably will not help, as again the issues seems to be with the PayPal Express Checkout for Woo plugin.
