I’m using the Invisible Captcha Plugin (http://wordpress.org/plugins/invisible-captcha/) to detect spam and that works like a charm. Yesterday I installed Better Notifications and suddenly I get emails for spam comments stating that they are awaiting moderation. However, when I visit the dashboard, the comment is actually marked as spam.

Does your plugin trigger emails at an earlier point in the code than wordpress itself would? Or could it be that the email notification is sent out before the other plugin marks the comment as spam?

    Hi PhiBo,
    That’s a good question.

BNFW has the ability to suppress comments marked as SPAM natively – have you ticked the checkbox saying: “Do you want to suppress comments marked as SPAM by Akismet?”.

This may work for other plugins too so let me know.

Yes, of course I have (I think it was checked by default). btw: the label is just “Suppress notifications for comments marked as spam?” without reference to Akismet.

Brill, thanks – you’d be surprised of the similar messages we’ve had where people haven’t checked that.

In the latest version, i’m sure that feature only works with Akismet but i’ll put it on our ‘fix list’ to ensure that it checks a little later to give SPAM-nuking plugins a little more time to do their thing.

For now, i’d recommend switching off the new comment notifications.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the prompt responses. I’ll be looking forward to future releases of your plugin. 🙂
