Thank you for the quick reply and fix in the new version (we’ve contacted the support service via a contactperson)
I can confirm that it works. The error notification is shown.
The only “minor” point is still that a phone field is first not required. But when chosing the Afterpay, it is required. But still; WooCommerce indicates that the phone field isn’t required.
I don’t think you can do anything about this.
We’ve added this text to our AfterPay payment method:
Please add your phonenumer when choosing this payment method.
In this way, people can “expect” this error. Otherwise, it just looks odd.
Hello @davelo,
Thank you very much for your report and informing us of this issue.
As you confirmed, after identifying the issue we have now released a new version of the plugin fixing the notification, making it possible again to show the error messages that return from the API. This fix can be found in version 4.8.1 of our plugin.
In regards to your recent comment about the “required” or “non required” phone field. Within the core of WooCommerce, usually the phone is a required field by default. If this is not the case for you we believe there might be something influencing this within your own environment. Maybe another plugin or theme function introducing this change.
I any case, you have a possibility to change Afterpay payment gateway from a type “direct” to a type “redirect” within the payment method settings. This will forward the consumers to our payment page where they can fill the missing information.
Also, I believe there are different ways in which you can make a field required based on the payment method selected:
https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/tutorial-customising-checkout-fields-using-actions-and-filters/
Hopefully, this explains it and helps you further solving the issue around the required phone field.
