    Dear @boonebgorges,

    I hope you’re doing well 🙂 I just ran into an issue with BGES, namely that group notices that are sent via the admin screen are not being sent in private groups anymore. I encountered the issue on my live site and tested it in my dev environment and it appears that everything works fine for public groups, but not for private ones. The notice is published in the group activity stream, but not send out as an email to group members. Would be great if you could look into why this is happening 🙂

    I had a chance to look in coordination with https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-group-email-subscription/issues/183. I suspect that the issue is not private vs public, but is instead user subscriptions – ‘no email’ vs ‘all email’, etc. Could you test to see if that’s correct?

    (For the record, I was unable to reproduce any problems with private/hidden groups. As long as user settings were configured correctly, emails went out as expected.)

    I finally got around to test the issue and indeed, you are correct! The moment I set the email to “All mail” the notice is sent. Now, my standard setting for all users is “weekly summary”, only in rare cases I need to send out time-sensitive information and for this I used to use the admin notice. I understand that users that opt for “No email” probably should not receive any email, but for all others it would be great if the notice could be sent immediately!

    Hi, having the same issue. To make the GROUP EMAIL (sent to all members) work it seems this needs to happen:
    1. NEW USERS group setting needs to be set to ALL EMAILS
    2. USE CAN SET TO ANY SETTINGS (NO or ALL EMAILS)
    I tested and this seems to work. But the problem is that almost ALL of our students want either NO or WEEKLY group emails.
    Is this the only option?
    Ideally we want new student default (WEEKLY) and still for the GROUP EMAIL to arrive.
