Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Notice of changed URL

  • I run a site where many pages are updated regularly (200/400 a day).
These updates are run as a batch file.
After completion I am now getting a bunch of the following message

“You just changed the URL of this Post. To ensure your visitors do not see a 404 on the old URL, you should create a redirect. Learn how to create redirects here.”

Unfortunately this is unhelpful since it does not identify the post. On a run of 200 updates, I have received sometimes no such warnings, and sometimes 90.

The software used to create the update file has not changed. This is clearly a Yoast message which at the time it is created knows which post is affected and just what change has been made. It just leaves me with no way forward.

Has any change been made in Yoast which might lead to a greater sensitivity in this?

I fully appreciate that when I can find out what is being referred to, it is for me to sort out, but it is telling me that there is a problem without giving me the (known) information to identify and cure it.

  • I just got the same message, and it appears to be a “false positive.” I bulk edited 41 posts to add them a new category. I got the “You just changed URL…” message 3 times when the edit was complete. However, my posts do NOT include a category in the permalink, so there should not have been any URL changes made.

Also, as dslippy pointed out, the error message did not reference a specific post, making it hard to track down the actual source of the error.

I confirm that I have double checked the update file links and the post links and cannot identify any change – but I still go the messages
