    Please be advised:

Recent changes to Google Viewer have caused the Enhanced Viewer option of the plugin to stop working. I am working to identify the problem and hope to issue a plugin update shortly. In the meantime, please use the Standard Viewer option to ensure your documents are embedded correctly. Thank you for your patience.

An updated version has been released that patches this and several other smaller issues. Enhanced Viewer users are strongly encouraged to update to the latest version as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

I have just started using this plugin. I have two question related to this:

    1. If i am using ‘Enhanced Viewer’ to display a simpl pdf e.g http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf I got this error

GDE Error: Unable to retrieve document contents. Please try again or switch to Standard Viewer.

In standard Viewerit works fine. Why?

    2. Can i use this plugin to embed same feature provided by this plugin in my own personal website page not word press ?

    1) I would need more details about your specific document to answer this question. Feel free to provide here or use the Support tab in GDE Settings.

    2) Yes, but not via GDE and only the “standard viewer.” Use the service at http://docs.google.com/viewer to generate the appropriate links.

Actually we wanted to integrate the google doc viewer in our web application with disabled copy/paste/print option so only ‘Enhanced Viewer’ was suitable for our purpose. But as you say this is not possible with GDE. I will have to look into other options apart of this GDE. Am i correct?

    Here is the short code:

    [gview file=”http://178.239.16.28/fzs/sites/default/files/dokumenti-vijesti/sample.pdf” profile=”2″ save=”0″ cache=”0″]

I am using the word press in my local system.

    manish,

You’re correct; GDE’s “enhanced viewer” is a layer on top of the standard Google Viewer, and GDE only works within WordPress.

Regarding your link problem, please see the first note in the FAQ. It’s fine for your site to be on your local system, but the document itself must be somewhere on the public internet (even if that location is unpublished), otherwise Google can’t fetch it for conversion.

If i use the http://178.239.16.28/fzs/sites/default/files/dokumenti-vijesti/sample.pdf with standard view it works fine it means this document is publicly available. You just browse this file you can see it in your browser.

Sorry for misunderstanding. There appears to be a problem with the “max doc security” profile due to changes on Google’s end. This is not something you’re doing wrong. I’ll try to find a solution for this and get back to you.

OK but even if am using default profile ,it is the same problem

    Manish,

Wow, I was really not understanding the issue. Too early in the morning maybe? Thanks for your patience.

I see the problem, and it has to do with using the cache="0" attribute in your shortcode. If you remove this it seems to fix the problem you’re seeing.

That option should work, so I need to fix it. But please confirm that removing cache="0" from the shortcode resolves it for you.

so this is the link i am using

    [gview file=”http://178.239.16.28/fzs/sites/default/files/dokumenti-vijesti/sample.pdf” save=”0″]

and the problem is still same.

I could see the problem with cache=0 in the shortcode, but the one you posted above works fine for me.

    http://www.davistribe.org/gde/test2/

The save=0 may be redundant (if download links are turned off in the profile) but doesn’t cause any harm. I can view the file normally using the shortcode you last sent.

Yah it works fine in ‘Standard Viewer’ but ‘Enhanced Viewer’ simple shows the same error message.

I’ve updated my test link above to use the Enhanced Viewer. It still works fine.
