When adding user agents, avoid space and exclamation marks. It’s a known but in the current version and it will cause a 500 error on your site. The only way to correct the issue is to manually edit the .htaccess file in the WP root folder.
This issue will be taken care of for the next version. However, at the moment if you really must enter whitelists with space, you can edit your htaccess file manually.
Hi. Thanks for the great plugin.
This is not a major problem as I’m not sure I even want my images on Pinterest, but when I do try to add an image to pinterest – I get a message (after the thumbnail has uploaded OK) saying ‘Sorry – this is not a valid image’.
Which didn’t happen before I started using imaguard, though I couldn’t say for certain it is *because* of imaguard.
*Sorry* I posted this to an existing thread instead of a new one…
You are using the image redirect, I presume, not the watermark feature? Pinterest have to be whitelisted as a referrer or agent so that it will see the image – if not it will just see the redirect to a HTML page (thus “not a valid image”).
Try to put pinterest and pinterest.com on your user agent whitelist and also facebookexternalhit and facebook on both the user agent and referrer whitelist if you want to be able to share your images on Facebook.
Sorry – yes just using the redirect.
I realised just very recently I had not added them to the whitelist, so I added in
just before trying the test. (maybe it takes a while for them to decide that they can sue the images again?)
That also reminds me – can you use regular expressions for domains in the whitelist e.g.
and hundreds of other suffixes depending on where you are.
Apologies for the late reply. Like must plugins, Imaguard is a one man operation and I have been out with the flu…
User agents are actually entered as open ended searches so blogspot should match http://www.blogspot.com, blogspot.co.uk and thisisnotblogspotatall…
Let me know if this doesn’t solve the issue.
“pinterest” on UA and referrer worked for me. If you are still having problems and you have access to live website logs, try to open the log, add a pin and then refresh log to see the data. Please post result here if you actually test this 🙂
The link below contains an in depth list of popular search engine User Agents. Hopefully these will help you guys out.
