    New WordPress installation, this plugin was one of the first added, configured it with the MailChimp API key and it was tested & worked just fine.

    Did some stuff – created some pages, played with some themes, added a few more plugins, upgraded my PHP version to 7.1 to comply with a plugin – and now this plugin doesn’t work. It gives a General Error message for both known new and currently subscribed email addresses. Other behaviors are correct (bad email address, box not checked).

    I tried setting the PHP version to 5.6, and also deactivating and reactivating the plugin; it still doesn’t work. There are no error messages listed in the cPanel log file. I would appreciate any debugging tips. I’m pretty new to using WordPress.

    Probably a conflict with the theme or plugins that use the same MC library. We’d have to see the site to be more specific.
