I am using supportive version of Tablepress. I have .xls file with 4 MB data and 45 thousand of records in it. When I try to upload the file, it hanged on admin-post.php file without showing any output. Please test this plugin with large data files.

    Hi @pankajtechilagmailcom,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.
I’m not sure how I never saw this review earlier, but I’d still like to offer my help, of course. (Or did you maybe leave a different review earlier and then modified it?)

You are totally correct, TablePress is not really good with large tables or large files. The reason simply is that it is meant be a table plugin and not a database management system. Such are much better at maintaining very large data sets, where the rows go into the thousands.

Now, there is something that you could try here however: The Excel file format is pretty bad when it comes to PHP memory consumption. This usually means that a server will no longer respond, as in your case. (So, technically, this might not even be TablePress’ fault.)
I therefore suggest that you try saving your file to a .csv file in Excel and then try the import again. Now, even if the import works, you will probably notice that the “Edit” screen will be very slow or even unusable. I’m working on making this better, but it will still take time. The import and replace method should however be a good workaround. If this bothers you too much, I can only suggest that you check out a real PHP/mySQL database solution

Thanks again for your review! I hope that you still get notified about my reply, even though it has been posted so long ago.
Please let me know what you think of my suggestion.

    Regards,
    Tobias
