• When I updated my blog to WordPress 6.1 all the posts in which I used the HTML5 Video Player plugin developed “critical errors”.

All the content in the post disappeared and only a frame from the video remained. I also lost all the links for the entry, such as date, categories, tags, and edit. The post was frozen with no way to fix it. So, I restored WordPress back before the 6.1. update and the problem disappeared and the posts all went back to the way they were. I do not have a link to share because I did a restore.

I have not installed any new plugins since I tried updated WordPress. I’m using theme Twenty Sixteen.

    Hi @mstissa,

sorry for the issue. it’s a public place, if you have no problem, would you please share the theme name you are using?

    Thank you

Any update? Like I said, I’d really like to keep using your plugin but if it doesn’t work with the latest version of WordPress then I may have to ditch it.

I would also try changing my theme but Twenty Sixteen remains the one with the features and customization that works really well for my blog.

    I noticed something I hadn’t before.

If I open the corrupted post. All the writing is missing and the video player no longer shows, instead it’s just a frame from the video.

What I didn’t notice is if I hover over a spot it will show the option to play the video in picture-in-picture mode. Then the video is opened in a small window in the lower right corner and I can play it.

When it’s in picture-in-picture mode there are three buttons on the player: back to tab, pause, and mute. I can resize the video by dragging the cursor. When I click back to tab, the video will continue to play in the main window, however the controls disappear.

    Hope this helps.

Another update: I figured out how to add HTML5 Video Player links to the now by-default “blocks” of WordPress. You have to select “classic”. However, when WordPress is updated it appears that this is where the corruption may be taking place. Something about blocks does not play well with your plugin.
