    Hi,

I love this plugin, but I notice that it’s not working in IE7. Unfortunately, two of my websites must be compatible with IE7. What happening is that each slide appears underneath each other. I’ve already replaced my jquery version with the latest one (1.8).

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I’d really hate to deactivate the plugin. It has everything that I’m looking for.

I answered this via email, but to sum up here for the good of the community:

IE7 has issues with the latest version of jQuery and jQuery Cycle. While developers are totally free to build their own IE7-compatible themes (and we encourage you to do so, if you absolutely need IE7 support) we will not be building our themes to be IE7-compatible. This allows us to focus our resources on improving the underbelly of Total Slider.

IE7 is no longer supported by Google Apps and a number of other companies. In fact, the next major release of jQuery (2.0) will be completely dropping support for IE6-8, so it seems prudent for us to get behind that bandwagon now.

Thanks for understanding, and please encourage clients to upgrade their browsers! IE7 is six years old now (it was released almost a full two years before the first version of Google Chrome was!); we’re eager to see it go the way of the dodo.

Thank you for your quick responses. I wish I didn’t need to design for IE7. What a wonderful life I have…

Since you said in the email that jQuery 1.8 doesn’t support IE7, I tried downgrading to jQuery 1.7 to see if that might work. It didn’t.

Thanks for your help and advice. I honestly haven’t had this much of a professional-grade support service for a plugin ever.

Even though I can’t use your plugin now, I will definitely be using it for future websites!
