not working in a nested menu at all.. no display – nothing shows.
-
Hi,
So we’re trying to shortcode-link / embed a menu into another menu.. not having much luck. trying this plugin nothing shows up at all.. this is being added in a sub-page menu under the main pagei.e.
parent page
– > sub-pages menu’s shortcode (with full html enabled) <— doesn’t show anything
-
Here I added that
<a>
tag directly in the browser to check if things will work out after change of settings, and it does work on your site as well:I saved multiple times, no site cache enabled at this time, external cache cleared.. I added a few pages to make sure the menu item actually works, it does.. the plugin isn’t outputting anything here.
not really sure what is going on..
even adding the
<a>
tag in the inspector as you did doesn’t work here..- This reply was modified 3 years, 12 months ago by PPNSteve.
I just checked the site, seems something else is wrong, because earlier, as shown in my previous screencast, the menu was there, so, something else must have changed, because now, the menu is completely empty. Not sure what settings you’ve changed.
Again I opened the page, I guess, you’re currently trying to modify things, and now the menu is there, with all the content as well, but same issue, the
<a>
tag is missing.Here’s me fixing it live in the screencast
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw1XuPWwi3con the page
https://www.yugioh-world.com/the-video-games/the-eternal-duelist-soul-for-gba-booster-sets-and-unlocks/and if that setting is saved, as I mentioned earlier, this wouldn’t even need fixing.
I was able to get it to work editing the html..
ok just a simple question.. how do i get that to work in the menu?The
<a>
tag is entered in the sb child list settings as shown in the above screencap..
[sb_child_list template=”2″]nothing again..
The shortcode you’ve entered here, is using template 2, so you need to add that
<a>
tag for
“Child List Start Template
Template 2 for the start of the list”The first one in settings is for default template, but since you’re using template 2, scroll down a bit in the settings and find “Child List Start Template” there.

Also, it seems SB Child List plugin does not output anything on homepage, so you need to go to a page which has child pages, in order to see any output.
i did edit template 2, so its not that.
hmm, on the home page.. perhaps that’s part of the problem too.. though its not showing on any of the ‘video games’ page or child pages either. (unless I manually edit the html) its just not outputting the<a>
tag we edited in sb child list settings- This reply was modified 3 years, 12 months ago by PPNSteve.
I think I’m giving up for the evening.. will address this again tomorrow (I’m west coast USA)
On homepage, that plugin is not going to output anything, but on other pages, it is working. Also, try to edit the default template instead of template 2, and remove the template part from the shortcode, maybe that will work. Create a support topic in that plugin’s support, maybe its author might be able to help you out with the issue, because this isn’t an issue with Shortcode in Menus plugin, so marking this topic as resolved.
ok
thanks for all your time, its been helpful.Always welcome 🙂
Also, if you reach any solution to the problem, do remember to mention it out here as well, for other users
