• New functionality brought with V5 is not working.

Back up now button on top – not doing anything. Communication between front toggle butotns for files and db archive and jobs – not working.

Luckily the old backup job is stil present and could be used.

If I was a new user that have just installed V5 I would defenitely think it is broken and will look for another plugin.

I do understand the simplification and that the authors of the plugin have their business model, but if you are going to replace huge number of options with two toggles and one button you should be sure that they are working.

    Hi @ivomasterche ,

We appreciate your thoughtful feedback and completely understand your frustration. The goal of v5 was to simplify the experience, but we acknowledge that some users have encountered issues that shouldn’t be happening.

We’ve been actively addressing problems like the “Backup Now” button not working and improving the communication between the UI toggles and backup jobs. If you’re on the latest version (5.0.5) and still experiencing these issues, please let us know so we can investigate further.

We truly appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue refining BackWPUp.

    Best regards,
    The BackWPUp Team

    Hello,

    Version 5.0.6, freshly updated.

    More details about the issues:

    1. Back up now, refreshes the page and doesn’t do anything (tested with file and db toggles on and off), Dev tools console throws warning for duplicated IDs
    2. DB toggle off -> links for settings underneath still clickable
    3. DB toggle off -> in jobs screen table a next run of db archive is scheduled
    4. Old job (pre V5) that was never scheduled still visible in the jobs list but set as schedulled

Note, the page is in “under construction” mode.

    Hi @ivomasterche,

Thanks for sharing these details. That shouldn’t be happening, and we’d love to take a closer look to understand what’s going on. Could you reach out to us directly so we can investigate this further?

    Looking forward to your update!

“… The goal of v5 was to simplify the experience, but we acknowledge that some users have encountered issues that shouldn’t be happening.”

Among design engineers there’s a not exactly untrue wisdom that when you design something that even a fool will be able to use, you get something that only fools will use.

Perhaps you should revise your objectives…
