    Hi Paul,

    I trust all is well?

I am having trouble getting my widget to send sms from website.

Is there no test mode to check as I cannot commit to buying credit if the plugin does not do what it should do.

I have followed all the steps, but on the frontend I get a error message “SMS could not be sent”

    Hey Jay,

There isn’t a test mode I’m afraid, although that’s a potential idea for a future release. What would you like to see happen in a “test mode” to prove that it’s working?

If you’ve no credit on your Telecoms Cloud account then the SMS obviously won’t send. The error message on the front end doesn’t specifically say this, as it would be embarrassing for you as a site owner if your credit ran out, you wouldn’t want your visitors seeing that!

You should be able to get some free demo credit from Telecoms Cloud if you go to their website and ask them nicely 😉

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for the speedy response.

I think I would just like to know that it is working, so even if there is a module inside the plugin that can submit a virtual sms and display in a lightbox (something like the preview function in page editor). That way essentially a user/dev has the peace of mind that the plugin works, and then can proceed to purchasing credit.

I am not disrespecting your work, but just the small function to offer stability to users (like myself) that wants to proof before deployment.

Otherwise, great plugin! I will check with Telecoms for the free credit to test it out.

I look forward to future updates!

    Cheers

    Hi Jay,

Yep good idea, I’ll look at adding something similar in a future release. I guess it wasn’t much of a priority when developing as the £5 free credit offer when you signup negates the need to worry about actually parting with hard earned cash to see if it works, as your first 160 or so messages are free so you can text yourself ad nauseam 😉

Thanks for your feedback, I’m glad you like the plugin and let me know the URL you’re using it on so I can check it out once you’re up and running! Oh, and if you could leave a review I’d really appreciate it as I don’t think it has one yet (sobs…)

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Paul,

I know my last reply marked this resolved. But I am still experiencing the same issue.

I will open the site for a few minutes and if you can try and submit using your number to check if it works.

Not sure if it’s because I am from SA, and the cloud is in UK.

    Hi Jay,

Telecoms Cloud is international, so that won’t be an issue 🙂

I’ve just tried it with my own mobile number and it’s not working, so something must be up.

    1. Can you confirm the shortcode syntax you’re using?
    2. Can you confirm everything’s working OK on the SMS Widget settings page? (WordPress Dashboard – Settings – SMS Widget). You should have your Client ID and Client Secret validated in there, and underneath you should see your username and credit balance (as in the screenshot on the plugin’s details page).

    Cheers,

    Hi Paul,

    Here is my shortcode:

[wpSMS fromnumber=”447892010100″ message=”This is an SMS text message sent to you via the Telecoms Cloud API.”]

I have tried the from number with both the + and without.

And my details are correct as it corresponds and my free credit is topped up.

    Hi Jay,

I see the issue – you need to specify the “From” number either in UK national format “07892010100” or in the standardised E.164 format which would be “+447892010100”.

So, either replace the 44 with a zero (0), or add a + at the start. Either will work 🙂

When you tried it with the + before, was that +44…. or something else similar but not quite right?

For more details check the Telecoms Cloud documentation: https://api.telecomscloud.com/#!/sms/create

I’ve just tried it myself on my own website, with the only change to your shortcode above being adding in the +, and it works fine 🙂

Hope that sorts it for you – let me know if not.

    😀 Paul!!!!

I just added the + and it works!

Not sure why it didn’t respond earlier though… Anyways, its working and thats all that matters.

Thank you so much for the assistance, I’ll be sure to give you an awesome review.

    Cheers
