I once found this plugin by far the best there was out there for cloning wordpress websites. I loved it. Support was great, the plugin worked.

Not the case anymore. I have tried it on two websites on servers that i have never had issue with in the past and now it experiences the exact same issue on both installs…connection timeout. I have altered php settings, made changes to htaccess files all to no avail.

I get the feeling that it has been purposely programmed to fall over once website size gets up around 400-500 MB…in an attempt to entice the user into purchasing the pro upgrade. If this is the case its very poor business tactics and I am ashamed to have even been a fan of this business in the past (i hope i am wrong)

Sorry guys…but this is now a total fail. Very disappointing.

  • Hi Adam,

While the pro version is designed to handle larger sites in no way has the code been updated or changed in the free version to push the pro version. If your site has gotten larger or your on a budget host that performs configuration without notifications then it can and in most cases will prevent the plugin from running a full cycle, especially if the settings are wired into the web server.

The free version has always been programmed as a single threaded process and has always had issues on some budget hosts that constrain timeouts at either the PHP or Apache level. All of the code is 100% open source on both WordPress.org and Github.

If us tampering with the code base to push the pro product was the case then it would be very obvious in the source code and by many other developers who help contribute and support it. We are very proud of the free version and are always working to make it better.

Setting a one star on speculation is unfair to the plugin and the community, and telling us to be ashamed of those tactics is also inconsiderate for a plugin that as you state been:

… by far the best there was out there for cloning WordPress websites. I loved it. Support was great, the plugin worked.

As always if you would like to submit a help ticket we are more than glad to see if we can help you identify the issue or provide work-a-rounds. The claims you made are absolutely false and personally insulting. We hope you reconsider your vote!

    Thanks
