Hi @ireneirene
This is usefull when you need categories for backend purpose, for example admin-only classification, automatic pricing rules based on categories…
@agencenous
If I may do a suggestion… :·)
I think quite a few WooCommerce site admins are looking for a plugin that lets them put sold out products on a separate page, away from the items in the actual store, but visible for search engines and the public.
Woocommerce can’t do this out of the box and the only other plugins I could find so far, cost $ 70 per year (and next year, etc), which seems a bit steep for just that.
Hi, do you mean we would add a new option to get:
- hide products from this category (already exists)
- hide category (already exists)
- let category visible by direct access (new)
Hi, yes, indeed. Thanks for considering it.
You could also use the ‘sold out’ property, but yes, using the WooCommerce category (not to be confused with the regular WordPress category) property would be the most versatile way to do it. The way that would probably suit most uses / users, since it’s more flexible.
(By the way, the reason many shop / site owners want this, is because it’s good for seo since the site keeps more relevant content available, but it’s also interesting for ‘real’ visitors, because they can see what one-off products have been sold in the past. This gives a bit more insight in the store, its reliability, the type of content, turnover speed etc.)
