Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » NOT user friendly or an improvement on the Classic Editor

  • The new default Gutenberg editor is not intuitive for new users.

There is a reason that textual content editors and word processors like MS Word and Google Docs use a certain type of interface. It is because they are easy and quick to use, have simple controls, and are flexible. I’m afraid the Gutenberg editor fails all three of these tests.

I will continue to install the Classic Editor plugin (utilising TinyMCE) for all new WordPress sites I build for the foreseeable future.

    Hi @paulychilds,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’m sorry that your experience with the block editor has not been great.

MS Word and Google Docs are very good at editing documents, but the same UI may not be the most intuitive to edit and create content on the web.

Gutenberg tried to become more user-friendly and may notice some progress on WordPress 5.3. That said, would it be possible to elaborate on the specific you things/features that make the editor hard to use?

Thank you in advance for any additional insights you may provide!
