• Very frustrating to use this plugin. I get (literally!) HUNDREDS of spam users joining daily; I’ve spent hours cleaning them out and they just keep coming. I did reach out to support and followed all the steps they recommended, but the spam users keep on coming. Unfortunately in the process of trying to delete thousands of spammers, I have accidentally also deleted users that I wanted to keep. UGH! I will be looking elsewhere for something that’s easier for me to manage.

    Hi @deck2deck,

I completely understand your frustration with spam registrations, but we would like to clarify that the User Registration & Membership plugin does not cause them; instead, our plugin can help you resolve them.

When registration is enabled on your site, the default WordPress registration form also becomes active as you can see in this screenshot: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/57101898?key=9cd2958822de4cd8533f54a29aee9415. This form is often used by spammers to create accounts. To prevent this, we provide a Hide Default Login option, which also blocks the default registration form.

To enable this option, please follow these steps:

Please note that this will completely disable the default WordPress login. Before enabling, make sure that the captcha on your login forms is working correctly, otherwise you could get locked out.

Tip: You can also check where spammers are entering your site.

I hope this information helps clarify things and assists you in stopping the spammers. If the spamming continues, you can check the source to find where the spam registrations are coming from.

    Best regards,
