• I’m new to blogging and still figuring out this stuff. Luckily, WordPress is pretty easy to setup/configure.

I’m using the theme Devenir En Gris on my blog. I figured out how to change the way the sidebar works to add things that I want and remove things I don’t want.

I have a section on the left sidebar where I put in little blog icons. Currently, they are stacked on top of each other.

I had put in a table into the sidebar, and indeed, the icons were in the format I want. The problem was, though, that the sidebar was all messed up and didn’t look right.

I specified a width for the table smaller then what the width is listed for the sidebar in the css for the theme.

Any ideas? I’ve seen similar things that I want to do on other blogs, but short of trying to email them and waiting for a response, I thought I’d post here first in hopes someone would have a response quicker.

    My blog is http://blog.solitaryspaces.com

    Thanks in advance

  • I don’t understand why you’d want to put those images in a table. Is it because you want to space them somehow?

Just to organize them a little better. If not tables, some way to have them displayed 2 on a line instead of one on each line.

Hmm, still a little fuzzy on this one. Could it be the table width you’re using is too narrow and therefore brings the second icon down to the next line?

I’m trying to visualize this. With the current width of your icons, wouldn’t that go beyond the column boundary anyway if you put the icons two to a line?

I understand you want it just so — I’m that way too. But for what it’s worth, it really doesn’t look that bad to have them stacked that way. 🙂

Vryce, there is another problem, too. I guess you are using relative path for those icons/images, so on your single post pages they don’t show up.

Thanks.. Weird that they showed up for me always. But If you had problems seeing them, I’m sure others would have as well.

I put the full path in for those icons, so they should always be visible now.

Thanks for pointing out the issue.

I guess I’ll leave them as is. Since I can’t format them how I want, it will force me to not have tons of those little icons on my page. 🙂

I’ve seen some blogs with 10-20 or more of those little icons. I have 5 or so. Not a lot and all revelent. Well, the XBox one could probably go. Hehe. But the rest are for my host, state, word press, blog explosion.

    Thanks again you two.

You can always put them in a list, I guess.
