We are very serious about developing and maintaining Gutentor. Although it is a free project we are trying our best to making it useful following many suggestions on support thread and are actively resolving them.
Counter demo is here, I think it is working fine.
Instead of just complaining if you can explain how should it be, it will be helpful for us and users.

We have thoroughly checked the counter blocks (and related block Progress bar) and found some glitches, we will fix them on the next version. If you need urgently fixed, you can download the gutentor min js and replace it on your end, locate the WordPress installation => plugin folder and replace gutentor/assets/js/gutentor.min.js.
