the bar works fine for admin logged in and seems to be working for visitors not logged in but for regular members of my site the bar don’t show at all when logged in

i have tried everything… the options are straight forward so i don’t think i have something set wrong

First, make sure the Toolbar should actually show. There’s a personal setting in the WP profile page for each user to show or hide it, the plugin doesn’t enforce this setting so if it’s hidden from there, it won’t show.

If it should show but doesn’t – Try deactivating other plugins and switch to another theme. There might be something else removing the Toolbar for these roles.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi billie,

Do you have any other plugins active on the site?
There are several plugins that have settings that will hide the toolbar for either logged in users, or what some plugins call ‘untrusted’ user levels.

Make sure no plugin is stopping the toolbar from showing.
As AlphaGolf_fr said, there are also themes that disable the toolbar. Some of them allow you to choose, and some don’t.

I know, myself, I found where I had stopped the toolbar from showing using a plugin and then I installed this one and couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t show. Then I found where I had previously turned it off and changed that setting in the other plugin and it works fine.

And just to be safe, double check to make sure you have allowed the user level you want to see the toolbar, is checked in the WP Toolbar settings.

Hope this helps some as well.

    Billie,

Did the above help you with your issue? I’m about to update the plugin and would be willing to include any needed fix to the next release.

    Thanks.

    thank you! πŸ™‚

i have tried everything and same story πŸ™

    changed themes to twenty eleven
and disable plugins… if it were a plugin hiding the tool bar then it wouldn’t show the wordpress toolbar

    wordpress toolbar works fine

    Hi billie,

I’m a little confused by your response.
Maybe you could help me to understand.

Your issue stated above is that logged in users cannot see the toolbar but
    visitors can.

Are you saying that the toolbar is functioning correctly now?

So, what you have said is that all plugins, other than WPS Toolbar, were deactivated, you switched to twenty eleven and there was no change at all?

But the WordPress Toolbar works fine.

Would you mind sharing the url of the website you are talking about?

when logged in as admin or as visitor i can see the toolbar but logged in as a regular member i can not see it…

is there a way to message or email you the url?

    Plugin Contributor Central Geek

    (@central-geek)

Yes, you can go to centralgeek.com. I have a under construction page up but you can use the contact form there to send information to me.

Or, you can contact me through that contact form and I can respond to you so that you know it’s not a dead end.

I am much less interested in posting an email address here than I am posting a website url. If I can and you are willing, I will do what I can to help you with this issue.

Just woke up from ‘my’ night… Sorry to read this is not solved.

    Couple more questions here:
    – could you go to the last box of settings (export) and check that the value of ‘wpst_toolbar_wp_toolbar’ contains all the roles that shall see the Toolbar, not only ‘administrator’ and ‘visitor’?
    – are the roles that don’t see the Toolbar, some of the default WordPress roles, or were they created with a role management plugin? If so, how do they look like?
    – when you write they don’t see it, did you test this yourself or is this only based on users’ feedback? (and did you try that checkbox “show Toolbar” on top of the WP Profile page)

For info this part of the code hasn’t changed at all with the forthcoming release so I wouldn’t expect this to magically solve with v0.0.18. I am willing to understand what’s going on and eventually fix it.

    Central Geek solved my problem…
it was mostly my own confusion about how the plugin worked and my multisite network users were not set correctly (nothing to do with the plugin it’s self).

Central Geek has some great ideas and eye candy for the toolbar that really needs to be considered… i love what he did to my toolbar! πŸ™‚

he also went above and beyond helping me with my toolbar and ROCKED my multisite network! (very smart man and trustworthy) i will forever be in his debt for spending so much of his own personal time with me on my site.

Central Geek if you ever need anything i got your back friend!!!!

    Hi billie,

    Thanks for the kind words.
    I am happy to help.
WP Symposium Toolbar is a great little plugin.

I will be posting a video tutorial on YouTube (and my site) in the near future, showing the features of WP Symposium Toolbar.

AlphaGolf_fr has done a wonderful job of turning the toolbar into a very functional navigation tool. Hats off to him.

Billie, I’m glad your issue was solved.

Louis at Central Geek has a strong knowledge with regards to multisites, and is very nice indeed. Furthermore, he has been involved in each and every aspect of the plugin since the beginning of its development a few months ago, with regards to both specifications and tests, so I see what you mean about his ideas πŸ™‚ To be honest I wouldn’t have gone that far if he hadn’t been there to suggest new things, perform thorough tests, and raise issues. To anyone reading this topic now or later, should you have any request about your WordPress network of sites, don’t hesitate to head up to centralgeek.com and drop him a word or two and he’ll surely respond.

I am now closing the ticket, with the hope the above topic will provide guidelines for others whenever they have issues with the plugin.

    I have this same problem.

I use Multiple blogs with two sites, WordPress 3.8.1.
With one of my theme the Toolbar is not viewing on site (but is visible only on my other site).

The button “Show Toolbar when viewing site” is checked.

    In Functions.php is the line:
    add_filter( ‘show_admin_bar’, ‘__return_false’ );

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @juriss,

Would you mind please opening your own thread. This is something WordPress.org is encouraging people to do. And it helps with bug tracking, if there is a bug to fix.

    Thanks

    Im having the sam issue.

I have deactivated all the plugins but the tool bar is still not showing up for subscribers.

I need the subscribers to be able to see the network guide when they visit my site and login.

I do not want them to have the option to hide the tool bar on my site as it is now a major part of my primary navigation thanks to you! πŸ™‚

    So whats the deal?

Shouldn’t this plugin bypass the subscribers ability to hide the toolbar?

    Cheers!

All my roles are in the Advanced settings under ‘wpst_toolbar_wp_toolbar’

No Roles are missing on my end but subscribers can’t see the bar unless they check the box in their profile.

    Cheers
