  • This page is setup to sell MP3 song files. The shopping cart is working just fine and purchases can be successfully made through PayPal. However, customers are not receiving the notification email from this plugin containing the download link for the item(s) they purchased. Under Email Settings, the box is checked to send emails to buyer after purchase and the from email address has been entered. Can someone help me find a solution for this? Thank you!

  • An email is being sent to the seller notifying him of the purchase made and the email includes the download link. Any idea why the email with the download link is not being sent to the buyer?

    Hi, can you let me know what is included in the Buyer Email Body?

    Also can you check the following 3 solutions.

    Solution 1: Please check the following URL How To Setup PayPal IPN.

    Solution 2: Your payment might not be getting cleared automatically by PayPal. If this is the case then the plugin will not send emails for a payment where the fund is still in a “pending” state. You will need to contact PayPal and ask them to check your account and make sure that the funds are cleared automatically after a payment is made.

    Solution 3: You have a security or firewall type plugin (or a firewall settings in your server config) that is blocking the IPN message. Temporary deactivate these to test.

    After going through the 3 solutions above, enable the debug logging option in the simple cart plugin (you can do it from the settings menu). Then do a test transaction so you can see if the IPN message is getting to the plugin. The log file will contain info that indicates that the plugin is getting the IPN message and it is processing it. If the log file is empty then it still isn’t getting the IPN. Some plugin or the server is still blocking it.

    The Buyer Email Body contains the default content:
    Dear {first_name} {last_name}

    Thank you for your purchase! You ordered the following item(s):

    {product_details}

    When I looked at the Cart Orders, it said that the buyer email had been sent to my email address. The PayPal IPN has been setup properly. I do not have any security plugins installed on the site, only Fusion Builder and Fusion Core (plugins for the Avada WordPress theme being used), WP Simply PayPal Shopping Cart, Contact Form 7, and Compact Audio Player.

    According to my PayPal account activity details, the funds are cleared right away. (Just did another test purchase and see it listed as completed.)

    I set the WP Simply PayPal Shopping Cart to debug mode before making my last test purchase. Everything looks as though it was successful:

    [01/15/2019 4:09 PM] – SUCCESS :Updating Affiliate Database Table with Sales Data if Using the WP Affiliate Platform Plugin.
    [01/15/2019 4:09 PM] – SUCCESS :Not Using the WP Affiliate Platform Plugin.
    [01/15/2019 4:09 PM] – SUCCESS :Paypal class finished.

    I still did not receive the email from the plugin with the download link. I checked my spam folder and it is not there as well. (It is a gmail email address.)

    Yes, the instructions on the web page you mentioned (WP Simple Shopping Cart – How to Sell Digital Downloads) were followed. The confirmation email is being sent to the seller – with the digital download link – but not to me, the buyer.

    The plugin is definitely executing the email sending code as seen with the following debug line:

    Product Email successfully sent to (buyer’s email)

    For some reason that email is not getting to your inbox. Some servers have email sending issues (it is somewhat common). It is very helpful to use an SMTP plugin so the email sending can be more guaranteed. Can you please try an SMTP plugin like the following and send all your site’s email using SMTP:
