    I have used the plugin sucessfully with two sites and it works really well. A third site with the same set up will not send emails after import. All settings and mail settings are the same and all three sites are on the same hosting.

    Is there any way to debug the mail sending on the plugin or any way to find out why it is not sending out the emails?

    Surely the problem is because you have not a SMTP configured.

    You can install a mail log to see which mails are being sent: https://es.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-logging/

    Normally that would be the problem but not in this case. I have used Mail Bank SMTP on this site and two others. On the others it works perfectly. On this site I can send a test message from the SMTP plugin and it works, but with the import I do not receive any mail. Have sent to different user email addresses and none are received.

    Have also tried a different SMTP plugin but no success.

    I wil try the mail log plugin to see if I can track it down.

    UPDATE.

    The mail logging plugin crashes the site if WP 5.2.1 is running.

    I Have tried Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log plugin. There is nothing in the log to show that the plugin is sending or trying to send mail 🙁

    This is really strange. Have you activated all referring to emails?

    In thousend of sites it is working and not sure which can be the problem in yours.

    I know – it works with the other sites that use the same plugins and server – driving me crazy trying to find the problem 😉

    Do you mean in the IMPORT TAb of the plugin
    Default Role – Admin, editor Author etc?

    I refer to the checkbox where you say “Send mails to…” in “Import” tab.

    DOH!!!!!

    I can’t believe I missed seeing that the box was unticked. I compared the settings with another site but probably been staring at it for too long! It works perfectly now!
