I have written alot of latex using mathjax shortcodes which are \( ….. \) for inline and \[ …. \] for display equations. If you add rendering support for these two shortcodes, all users who have written for mathjax can use your plugin instead of Mathjax.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I am not planning to add this: it goes somewhat against normal usage of plugins in WordPress, so would likely result in confusion or breakage—especially in terms of compatibility with other plugins. That would be a relatively high maintenance burden.
