    Not recommended to use.
If you have a proper setup on your server and deactivate this plugin because you do not needed anymore, it changes your database and config file and replaces https with http.
This happens every time you deactivate the plugin.
Nice lock-in that makes you wonder why your setup does not work without the plugin.

This is only for people that does not know how the SSL works (therefore 2 stars) but if you have a proper hosting, you do not need this, in fact it is better not to try it, because it will give you some headaches after that.

    Hi,

Really Simple SSL indeed updates the home- and siteurl values in the database to https://. Deactivating the plugin will revert your site back to http://. This has been done to easily and quickly revert a site back to http:// if there are any issues on https://, for example when an invalid SSL certificate is installed.

The plugin does have a ‘deactivate and keep SSL’ option in the plugin settings. Pressing that button will deactivate the plugin while leaving the home- and siteurl values on https://, any wp-config fixes in place and the .htaccess redirect (if enabled) in your .htaccess file.
