Not receiving email after upgrading to PHP 7.1

    I stopped receiving email from all my plugins (contact, WooCommerce, etc). I didn’t notice it right away, but I believe it started when I updated my PHP to 7.1.

    Any ideas?
    I’m not yet running through SMTP; I wanted to see if I can get it fixed using email via WordPress (it was working perfectly until about a week ago—after upgrading to 7.1).

    That verified it’s not working. I sent to 3 email addresses, and none received.

    Are you running on your own VPS or a shared host? If the former, make sure you have a mail transfer agent installed like sendmail or postfix.

    Thanks. It’s a shared host. I just setup the Gmail SMTP plugin; it activated fine, but when I tested it, nothing is received (no inbox, no spam).

    I contacted my host and asked if they need to do something to make the Gmail SMTP work.
    Strangeness.

    It’s been working fine (as WP email) for over a year, then it just stopped. I believe it was after I went to PHP 7.1, but can’t be sure.

    It’s most likely a hosting issue, so keep working them.

    Thanks for the help, Steve.
    My host recommended a different plugin (than the Gmail SMTP): “Easy WP SMTP,” and it now works fine. I must have had the settings wrong on the Gmail plugin. I don’t know why my WP email stopped working, and I had to switch to SMTP. But I guess that’s for the better.
