    I am using Starfish Reviews Lite on my localhost. When I test what happens when I click on the thumbs down review I enter the “Leave a Review’ info and click on ‘Submit Review’. No email is sent to my ‘Mail To’ in the Starfish Review Lite setting. I have tried two different email settings.

    Hi @stevelevine.

    If you logout and use the password reset link to request a password reset link, do you receive that email? I ask because Starfish Reviews only uses the same WordPress-core email sending functionality that WordPress and most plugins use. So if you can check if you can receive an email from WordPress itself, that would help us getting a better idea of where the issue is.

    My guess is that your localhost doesn’t have email sending setup in a way that would allow WordPress itself, or Starfish to send emails, therefore the problem. But if you set it up on an actual webserver (aka host), or using an email sending service like SendGrid, then it will work just fine.

    So please try my suggestion above, and also installing on an actual, live webserver. Then let me know the results. Hopefully we can figure it out for you. Thanks!

    Thank you very much for responding. This is what I have discovered:

    starfish-reviews-process.php on line 109 was using the create_function which is deprecated in PHP 7.2 (which I am using). I commented out the line and substituted wp_mail

    I installed the wp-mail-smtp plugin.

    Once I got wp-mail-smtp configured correctly, I was able to send emails from localhost.

    Thanks so much for this info! I wasn’t aware of this. We definitely want it to be fully PHP 7.2 compatible! We were about to release an update. I’ll have Matt, the developer, check for full 7.2 compatibility before we push it out. So this should be fixed in the next update of the plugin.
