Support » Plugin: MailPoet - emails and newsletters in WordPress » Not ready for the market! Every update is a lottery.

  • The latest update Version 3.18.1 causes “Error establishing a database connection” making your website unavailable!
    I can’t complain because it’s free, but the frequent updates every couple of days fix a few bugs(emails with hyphens not accepted and introduce new ones. Now all newsletters are gone for a while. Migrating from v2 to v3 was a pain. I reach more people using my own mail server than the MailPoet Sending Service. Using the MailPoet Sending Service the mails go to the promotion folder straight away. Year’s ago malware code was introduced in my website through leak in MailPoet two. Sorry, but can’t recommend this for serious projects. Will look at a different solution next time. Two stars because it’s free.

    Thank you two for your valuable feedback. There are many more who have the same point of view.

    I believe that we have a perception problem. Here’s why:

    1. We force you to see the change log regularly. This gives the impression that there are only problems to be fixed, doesn’t it? We’ll change that.

    2. Most issues we deal with today are either for isolated cases or display issues. They are not critical.

    This week’s release is only our second emergency release this quarter.

    3. A Quality Assurance colleague recently joined our team. She will help improve our existing testing processes. This is no small task considering the thousands of different configurations.

    4. We release weekly like many other software authors do today, like Facebook or Yoast for example. This is not because MailPoet is particularly plagued with issues.

    This allows us to:
    – release improvements and features in steps to gather feedback as early as possible.
    – push fixes and improvements quickly if needed;

    @gonzalezfoto, most of our users send all types of promotional content or news which are rightfully considered to be for “Promotions”. We’re pretty certain you’ll get the same result with our sending services.

    If you have better results with your own server, great! Plus, it’s free. 🙂

    Kim
