• QSM as an idea and as a UI is one of the most successful plugins I’ve found, but as an implementation it is very bad. For simple quizzes it is perfect and works out of the box.

    Pros:

    • works out of the box for sipmle quizzes
    • UI is intuitive

    Cons:

    • not possible to add code in questions and answers
    • duplication of code in plugin
    • you can’t use plugins that extend TinyMCE because the QSM command resets TinyMCE with their default settings

    Hello Sumit,

Thank you for your prompt response. I appreciate your openness to feedback and willingness to improve the product. Here are some specific details regarding my experience with QSM:

    1. Inability to Add Code in Questions and Answers:

    • One limitation I encountered is the inability to include code in questions and answers. This can be a significant drawback for users who want to create quizzes related to coding or technical subjects. Allowing the inclusion of code snippets would greatly enhance the versatility of the plugin.

    2. Duplication of Code in Plugin:

    • I noticed that there is duplication of code within the plugin. This could lead to potential maintenance challenges and could impact the performance of the plugin. Streamlining and optimizing the codebase would not only improve efficiency but also make it easier for developers to work with the plugin.

    3. Compatibility with TinyMCE Extensions:

    • The restriction on using plugins that extend TinyMCE, along with the QSM command resetting TinyMCE to default settings, can be limiting. Many users integrate various TinyMCE extensions to enhance their content creation experience. Providing better compatibility with such extensions would be beneficial for users who rely on additional TinyMCE features.

    4. Access to formatting options and other changes:

    • While QSM is effective for simple quizzes, users often require more advanced formatting options for questions and answers. Providing access to a wider range of formatting tools, such as text styling, multimedia integration, and layout customization, would greatly enhance the overall user experience. Additionally, allowing for more flexibility in making stylistic changes to the quiz interface could help users create quizzes that better align with their branding and design preferences.

I hope these details provide more clarity on the areas that need attention. I believe addressing these concerns would contribute to making QSM an even more robust and user-friendly plugin. If you have any further questions or need additional information, feel free to ask.

    Thank you,
    Dmitri

    Hello Sumit,

Thank you for the quick response and the positive update on addressing the code snippet issue. I’m pleased to hear that the development team has been proactive in resolving this matter.

I’ll promptly update the plugin to take advantage of the improvements. While this addresses one of the concerns, I’d like to emphasize the other points raised earlier:

    1. Duplication of Code in Plugin:
I hope this release also addresses the duplication of code within the plugin. Streamlining the codebase would not only improve efficiency but also contribute to easier maintenance.
    2. Compatibility with TinyMCE Extensions:
Regarding the compatibility with TinyMCE extensions, has there been any progress in allowing users to use plugins that extend TinyMCE without the QSM command resetting TinyMCE to default settings? This would greatly enhance the plugin’s flexibility.
    3. Access to Formatting Options and Other Changes:
Additionally, considering the importance of advanced formatting options for content creation, any updates on providing more formatting tools for questions and answers would be highly appreciated.

I appreciate your team’s dedication to improving the product, and I look forward to experiencing the enhancements in the latest release.

If you need any further clarification or if there are specific steps to take regarding the other points, please let me know.

Wishing you a great day too!

    Warm regards,
    Dmitri
